Greece and Spain will serve at the Hopman Cup 2019. For the Greeks Maria Sakkari and Stefanos Tsitsipas will be at the start, for the Iberians Garbine Muguruza and David Ferrer will try their luck.
For the Greeks, participating in the 2019 Hopman Cup will be the first since 2002. At that time Eleni Daniilidou and Vasilis Mazarakis were on duty, but they had to withdraw after a performance against Italy.
Next year, Tsitsipas and Sakkari should see better chances – both playing the best season of their lives so far. The 20-year-old Tsitsipas currently ranks 15th in the ATP ranking, while his partner ranks 31st.
While the two Greeks are only at the beginning of their career, the career of the 36-year-old Ferrer is slowly coming to an end. The Spaniard will end his great career next year either in Madrid or Barcelona. Together with Muguruza he wants to attack again at the maybe last edition of the Hopman Cup – a new edition of the World Team Cup is planned.
Switzerland (Roger Federer and Belinda Bencic) and Germany (Alexander Zverev and Angelique Kerber) will also be in Perth.
