Cycling: Germany Tour – Dates, riders, teams and stages

After a ten-year break, the Deutschland Tour is starting its renaissance with a new concept. Here you can find out everything about the dates, drivers, teams and individual stages.

Under the motto “1 professional cycle race, 100 other activities” the organiser A.S.O. connects the cycle races with numerous other events. In the course of further events, the tour is to be extended to one week by 2028.

The Germany Tour 2018 starts on August 23rd in Koblenz and ends three days later, on August 26th in Stuttgart. The other intermediate stops of the stage are Bonn, Trier, Merzig and Lorsch. The entire track is 737.5 kilometres long and has 13 mountain and eight sprint classifications.

All stages can be seen on Free TV. The first two races can be followed on the third channels hr, SR, SWR and WDR. The third stage shows ZDF and the fourth and last stage finally ARD. In addition, all stations offer a free live stream on the Internet. Here is the overview:

With 14 German WorldTour riders, the majority of the German elite is represented on the starting list. German champion Pascal Ackermann (Team Bora-hansgrohe) leads the German squad. With top sprinters Marcel Kittel, Andre Greipel and Marcel Sieberg some riders with tour-de-France experience are also at the start. Tony Martin has to cancel his start due to injury.

The start of Tour de France winner Geraint Thomas, who is contesting his first official race since his victory in Paris, is remarkable. Many other international top stars such as Romain Bardet, Mark Cavendish and Wout Poels will also be present. Here you can find the complete start list.
