ATP: Struff reaches the round of 16 in Winston-Salem

Jan-Lennard Struff (Warstein) has reached the round of 16 at the ATP tournament in Winston-Salem/North Carolina. In round two, the 28-year-old beat number four seeded Marco Cecchinato (Italy) 6-3, 6-4 and will play Chilean Nicolas Jarry (No. 14) in round 16.

Struff had already shown a good performance in round one against the Frenchman Benoit Paire in two sets. For the German Davis Cup player, this is his first appearance on the US hard court tour this summer.

From a German perspective, Peter Gojowczyk is still at the start of the event, which is endowed with 778,070 dollars. The Munich seeded in position 16 enters the second round by a walk-through, in which he meets the qualifier Horacio Zeballos (Argentina).

Favourite David Goffin has retired after playing in Cincinnati, making Pablo Carreno Busta the top-ranked player in the world rankings at Winston Salem.
