Alexander Zverev has apparently found a new coach – and what a coach!
Ivan Lendl now seems to have landed in Alexander Zverev’s team. The 21-year-old from Hambug posted two photos of an eightfold major champ from New York on Instagram on Tuesday and provided them with the lines: “Welcome to the team, Ivan Lendl.”. However, an official confirmation of a firm cooperation is still pending.
A few weeks ago, photos of Lendl and Zverev at a training ground in Saddlebrook had already appeared. At the ATP tournament in Washington, Zverev was still cautious about the questions about a cooperation with Lendl. In the past, too, he had repeatedly said that his father was the best coach ever – and reinforcement only makes sense if it was of a high calibre. Lendl, who has been with Andy Murray twice in recent years as a “super coach” (and led him to his three Grand Slam tournaments), has been the subject of several discussions – alongside Boris Becker.
Zverev had worked with Juan Carlos Ferrero until the spring, but the separation of the two ended in a dispute: Zverev had accused Ferrero of disrespecting the rest of the team; Ferrero denounced that Zverev had always come to practice too late.
