Germany’s best tennis player Alexander Zverev wants to work permanently with former top star Ivan Lendl.
This was announced by Zverev’s manager Patricio Apey. “Sascha and Ivan have known each other for several years, and now was the right time for a close cooperation,” said Apey on Wednesday at Sky: “Ivan Lendl will join Sascha’s team in the long term”.
The 21-year-old Zverev announced the cooperation with Lendl on Tuesday evening with a short post in the social media. “Welcome to the team, Ivan Lendl,” Zverev had written without giving details. The picture showed his father Alexander Zverev, physiotherapist Hugo Gavril, fitness coach Jez Green – and Lendl.
Zverev is already training in Flushing Meadows, where the US Open will start next Monday. His manager Apey already raved about Lendl. “Ivan has such an impressive character and a working attitude that can only help Sascha in the next phase of his career,” he said: “The team was already very well positioned, but now with Ivan an enormous component is joining them.
