WTA: Julia Görges in the quarter-finals in New Haven

Wimbledon semi-finalist Julia Görges continues to gain confidence five days before the US Open and has reached the quarter-finals at the WTA tournament in New Haven/Connecticut.

At the dress rehearsal for the last Grand Slam tournament of the year, the 29-year-old from Bad Oldesloe won 6:4, 3:6, 6:4 against the qualifier Dayana Yastremska (Ukraine).

In the round of the last eight, the ninth in the world rankings will meet the Russian Ekaterina Makarova or Magdalena Rybarikova (Slovakia). Wimbledon winner Angelique Kerber (Kiel) paused in the week before the US Open, Laura Siegemund (Metzingen) had already failed in her opening match against Briton Johanna Konta.
