WTA: Aryna Sabalenka celebrates premiere title in New Haven/Connecticut

Julia Görges victor Aryna Sabalenka has won the dress rehearsal for the US Open starting on Monday and thus won her first tennis title on the WTA Tour.

The 20-year-old Belarusian, who defeated the world number nine from Bad Oldesloe in two sets in the semi-finals on Friday, won the final against Carla Suarez Navarro from Spain after 1:13 hours 6:1, 6:4.

The 1.82 m tall Aryna Sabalenka will thus improve by five positions to 20th place in the world rankings. It has never been placed so high before. Sabalenka also cashed a cheque for 136,580 dollars for her first victory.
