US Open: ComeOn! match of the day: Youngster duel between De Minaur and Tiafoe

In the second round of the US Open 2018 two NextGen stars Frances Tiafoe and Alex De Minaur will meet. Especially Tiafoe is supported by the home audience in New York City and has a lot to do in the Big Apple. Can the Australian youngster spoil the local hero’s party? The “Match of the day” is presented by betting provider ComeOn!

Frances Tiafoe stretched his arms into the New York sky after his first-round victory against Adrian Mannarino and let his emotions run free. It was the first victory of the 20-year-old American on domestic Grand Slam soil.

Last year, after a big fight in the first round, he was defeated by Roger Federer. However, things are set to change in 2018. Tiafoe has big goals at the US Open and wants to convince the local fans of his skills. However, another youngster opposes this plan.

With Alex De Minaur, Tiafoe has to deal with a dangerous 19-year-old who clearly beat the Japanese Taro Daniel in round one. De Minaur left only three games to his opponent in the clear 6:0, 6:1 and 6:2, a declaration of war that Tiafoe should take seriously.

The 19-year-old from Sydney’s secret weapon is his extremely fast legs. De Minaur hardly loses a ball and has an enormous sprint power, which always puts his opponents into predicament. A simply won rally is a rare commodity in the game against De Minaur.

Tiafoe can counter this with hard and fast forehand whips. The world ranking-44. ensures maximum spin on the balls with an extreme forehand grip and keeps his opponents off balance. In his four-set victory over Mannarino, Tiafoe proved that he had taken a big step in his development. The impulsive American seems calmer and more focused than in the previous year’s edition.

For betting provider ComeOn!, Tiafoe has a wafer-thin lead in the NextGen Stars duel and spends 1.64 for a win for the 20-year-old.

However, De Minaur, who is one year younger, does not seem to have no chance and is sent into the second round duel with a score of 2.20.
