ATP: Argentine Patricio Heras banned for three years for manipulation

Argentinian professional Patricio Heras has been banned for three years for game manipulation and other related crimes.

The Anti-Fraud Union (TIU), founded by the tennis associations, even suspended the 29-year-old for a total of five years on Monday, two of which were suspended. Heras must also pay a fine of 25,000 dollars.

Number 307 of the ATP World Ranking has been found guilty of manipulating a game on the Challenger Tour in Barranquilla, Colombia, in September 2015. At the same tournament, Heras’ compatriot Nicolas Kicker had also postponed a match and had also been suspended by the TIU for three years in June.

Heras, 29, was also found guilty of not reporting to the TIU a number of corrupt requests he had received in August and September 2015. The TIU is an anti-corruption initiative of the Grand Slam Board, the International Tennis Federation (ITF), the ATP and the WTA.
