US Open: Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Jamie Murray win mixed doubles

Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Jamie Murray won the mixed doubles title at the 2018 US Open. They defeated Alicja Rosolska and Nikola Mektic in the Champions Tiebreak.

Mattek-Sands and Murray won 2:6, 6:3 and 11:9 after 78 minutes.

Mektic’s double partner on the ATP tour, Alexander Peya, is currently suspended due to an injury. Jürgen Melzer, with whom Mektic reached the third round, stepped in for the duration of the US Open. Peya had won the mixed title at Nicole Melichar’s side in Wimbledon.

This means that only the women’s final is still pending in the doubles competitions: On Sunday, Ashleigh Barty and Coco Vandeweghe will meet this year’s Australian Open winners, Kristina Mladenovic and Timea Babos.

Mike Bryan and Jack Sock had already won their second Grand Slam title together in the men’s doubles on Friday. The two Americans had already triumphed in Wimbledon.
