ATP/WTA rankings: Djokovic now third, Zverev falls behind, Kerber climbs

Novak Djokovic is back in the lead after his US open triumph – he is only just behind Roger Federer. For Angelique Kerber it also went up.

Wimbledon winner Kerber has improved to third place in the world tennis rankings despite her third round defeat at the US Open. The woman from Kiel made up a place and is only behind the Romanian Simona Halep (8061) and the Danish Caroline Wozniacki (5975) with 5425 points.

The Japanese Naomi Osaka climbed twelve places after her surprising US Open triumph and is in the top ten for the first time in seventh place. Wimbledon semi-finalist Julia Görges (Bad Oldesloe) dropped by two places to eleventh place. Serena Williams (USA) moved up to 16th place despite the final defeat against Osaka in New York.

The world ranking list of the ladies

Alexander Zverev (Hamburg) has lost a place among the men after his third round defeat at the US Open against Philipp Kohlschreiber (Augsburg) and is now fifth. Serb Novak Djokovic improved to third place after his final triumph against Argentine Juan Martin del Potro. The ATP ranking continues to be led by the Spaniard Rafael Nadal ahead of Roger Federer.

The world ranking list of men

In the other German ladies Tatjana Maria jumped eight places to 62nd place, followed by Andrea Petkovic (88), Carina Witthöft (92) and Mona Barthel (94) – for her it went 17 places forward thanks to the final at the 125k tournament in Chicago.

From an Austrian point of view Dominic Thiem has made up a place as eighth, best Austrians after him are Dennis Novak (133) and Gerald Melzer (151), in the ladies Barbara Haas (230) and Julia Grabher (235) are the best placed Austrians.
