ITF Round Up: Barbara Haas wins in Sofia

Barbara Haas has won the $25,000 ITF future in Sofia/Bulgaria.

The 22-year-old was seeded fourth and made it through the tournament without losing a set. In the semi-final Haas defeated the top seeded Basak Eraydin from Turkey 6:4, 6:3, in the final she won 6:3, 6:2 against Katharina Hobgarski from Germany.

For Haas, the victory in Sofia is the first title in 2018, the twelfth in all on the ITF Womens Tour. This should also catapult them back into the top 200 in the world next week – Haas is currently ranked 230. (The results of the ITF tour will only be included in the world ranking after a week delay.

Haas reached her highest single ranking almost exactly two years ago at 134th place.
