WTA: Teen Amanda Anisimova in Hiroshima already in the semi-finals

17-year-old Amanda Anisimova has reached the semi-finals of a WTA tournament for the first time in Hiroshima. The American defeated Anna Karolina Schmiedlova in two sets.

There is no other way to say it, but: Amanda Anisimova has strongly decreased. While the American with Russian roots only had to play two matches each against Jana Fett and Saisai Zheng in her first two matches, a 6-3 and 6-1 draw against Anna Karolina Schmiedlova from Slovakia was “only” enough, in a match that was briefly interrupted by the rain.

Anisimova, who had to play her way into the main field after qualifying, has 110 points for the WTA World Ranking, the prize money of 11,300 US dollars is probably not important at the moment. The teenager still has to wait for her semi-final opponent – the weather continued to cause problems for the organisers in Hiroshima on Friday.
