Davis Cup Roundup: The British must tremble, Shapovalov with comeback victory

In addition to the Austrians and Australians who will be playing for a place in the World Group in Graz, there are seven other duels in the Davis Cup relegation. The overview.

Japan’s already through. After Yoshihito Nishioka and Taro Daniel took a 2-0 lead against Bosnia on Friday, Jan-Lennard Struff’s double partner Ben Mclachlan and Yasutaka Uchiyama made things right with a three-set win over Tomislav Brkic and Nerman Fatic on Saturday.

Argentina also won their first two matches at home to Colombia. Diego Schwartzman defeated the indestructible Santiago Giraldo in four sets, Guido Pella had to go the full distance against Daniel Elahi Galan.

This is exactly what Daniel Evans flourished with Great Britain against Uzbekistan. Evans beat Denis Istomin in five sets. The British, however, must tremble, as Cameron Norrie, who had shown his strength in round one against Spain, also lost to Jurabek Karimov in five sets.

Hungary (without top player Marton Fucsovics) and the Czech Republic are also undecided. Zsombor Piros surprisingly defeated Jiri Vesely, while veteran Lukas Rosol secured the equaliser in Budapest with a commanding three-set win over Mate Valkusz.

Switzerland also still has some work to do – without Roger Federer and Stan Wawrinka. Markus Eriksson took the lead against Marc-Andreas Huesler, Henri Laaksonen equalised against Jonathan Mridha.

Servien and Canada both lead 2-0, Dusan Lajovic and Laslo Djere both won their singles against India, while returning Canadians Milos Raonic and Denis Shapovalov were successful. The latter made a comeback against Robin Haase after trailing 0:2 sets.
