ATP Challenger: Rodionov after defeating Tseng in Kaohsiung in quarter-finals

Jurij Rodionov also won his second match at the ATP-Challenger in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. The 19-year-old Austrian beat local hero Chun Hsin Tseng in three sets.

Tseng had started the match with the recommendation of two Grand Slam victories in the juniors, had triumphed in Roland Garros and Wimbledon. Most recently at the US Open, the number one of the junior world rankings was only knocked out in the semi-finals.

Rodionov was not impressed, not even by the smooth loss of set two. After 93 minutes of play, the left-handed player won 6:4, 1:6 and 6:3. Rodionov will face the Tunisian veteran Malek Jaziri in the quarter-finals, who beat Federico Gaio in two sets.

The tournament favourite at the event endowed with 150,000 US dollars is Gael Monfils. The Frenchman had received a wild card from the organizers.
