ATP: Stefanos Tsitsipas – Discipline makes the difference

Stefanos Tsitsipas starts his tennis autumn at the ATP World Tour 250 tournament in Metz. The 20-year-old Greek has already made it into the top 15 in 2018.

One of the great hopes for the future of male tennis will be competing in Metz these days, with Stefanos Tsitsipas in second place behind Kei Nishikori. Tsitsipas should almost have competed with a German, Maximilian Marterer broke the hurdle of Ricardas Berankis late, but still.

The ATP charts show the man from Athens as number 15, in the Race to London Tsitsipas is even at position 13, but is about 1,600 points behind the current eighth, Dominic Thiem. It is therefore rather unlikely that the 20-year-old will serve at the ATP season finale in London for the first time this year. The early defeat against Daniil Medvedev at the US Open did not help.

In Milan at the #NextGen-Masters the fans will be able to welcome Tsitsipa. ATP is aware of its market value and has dedicated a detailed portrait to Tsitsipas on its homepage. The way to success is described in it, even if Stefanos Tsitsipas still sees himself by no means at the goal arrived.

However, the quintessence that distinguishes Stefanos Tsitsipas and his buddy Alexandros Caldwell, who plays at an American university, from the other Greek talents is plain and simple: discipline. But there is also a father who knows what he is doing as a coach. And a mother who was one of the best players in the former Soviet Union.

That Stefanos Tsitsipas knows how to put himself in the limelight can be proven without a doubt not only on the showcourts of the ATP tour. A Youtube channel gives insights into the life of a young professional, for script, camera, direction and editing Stefanos Tsitsipas himself bears the responsibility.
