ATP: John Millman wants to attack fully in 2019

Australian John Millman has set himself high goals for the coming season after his sensational run at the US Open.

But first the world’s number 37 has yet to recover from a hip injury that he has been carrying around with him since the US Open. It wasn’t until the Davis Cup encounter with Austria that the Australian found out that this injury was something more serious.

“I didn’t know it was a crack until I had an investigation carried out in Austria. It’s pretty painful,” Millman said. However, the US open quarter-finalist will not be out for too long.

He will not play in Chengdu yet, but Millman hopes to be back on the pitch in Tokyo. Afterwards, the 29-year-old will compete in Shanghai, Stockholm, Basel and Paris.

Millman wants to finish his year after moving into the Top 50 for the first time. The upcoming events will also point the way forward for the Australian because of a different goal. “I want to be seeded in the Grand Slam tournaments,” explains the world’s number 37.

Millman is currently missing five positions in the top 32, guaranteeing a seat in the four majors. He is already in 30th place in the “Race to London”. With a good year-end result, Millman could already be seeded with his home major in Australia.
