ATP: Stan Vavrinka beats defending champion Damir Dzumhur in St Petersburg

Stan Vavrinka reaches the semi-finals of the ATP World Tour 250 tournament in St. Petersburg. The Swiss defeated defending champion Damir Dzumhur in two sets.

Dzumhur could fend off his first match point on his own serve, but after 72 minutes of play and 6:3 and 6:4 Stan Wawrinka was satisfied with the result: He was impressed by both the smooth final result and his performance.

In the semi-final round of the ATP World Tour 2500 tournament, Martin Klizan, who defeated Denis Shapovalov in three sets despite a set and break deficit, is now waiting. Roberto Bautista-Agut is also in the semi-finals. The Spaniard beat Marco Cecchinato in two sets and is waiting for the winner of the match between tournament favourites Dominic Thiem and Daniil Medvedev.
