ATP: Rankings: Thiem improves, Nadal leads, Zverev stable

Dominic Thiem was the only top ten player to move into the top regions of the ATP World Ranking with his success at the ATP World Tour 250 tournament in St. Petersburg.

While some of the top ten players duelled each other at the Laver Cup in Chicago, with the better end for the Europeans, Dominic Thiem achieved two things with his tournament victory in St. Petersburg: Grigor Dimitrov from Lower Austria overtook Dimitrov in the regular ATP world rankings and is now in seventh place there as well as in the Race to London.

The charts are led by Rafael Nadal, who will probably return to the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Paris-Bércy, ahead of Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. Alexander Zverev is still in fifth place.

Matthias Bachinger has made up 35 ranks with his final entry in Metz – and is currently in 135th place – there is no break for Bachinger, the Munich native is competing this week at the ATP-Challenger in Orleans. Just like Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, by the way.

Gilles Simon, who defeated Bachinger in the Metz final, pushed himself into the top 30, Martin Klizan, Thiem’s final opponent in St. Petersburg, worked his way up 16 places to 49th. Stan Vavrinka is also continuously improving: despite his defeat against Klizan in the preliminary round of St. Petersburg, the three-time major winner is already back in 75th place.
