Fed Cup: DTB team against Belarus in Braunschweig

The German Fed Cup team will play its first round match 2019 against Belarus in Braunschweig. This was announced by the German Tennis Federation (DTB) on Monday.

The matches will take place on 9 and 10 February 2019 in the 4500-seat Volkswagen Arena. A hard court will be laid for the match against the Belarusians.

Who will play for Captain Jens Gerlach’s team is still open. “I hope that both Angelique Kerber and Julia Görges will be fit and healthy for the match against Belarus,” said Gerlach.

For the DTB team, the duel with Belarus is also a reunion. In February, Germany prevailed in Minsk with a 3:2 understudy. In the following semi-final in Stuttgart, they lost against the Czech Republic (1:4). The team wants to start a new attempt in 2019. “I’m looking forward to the new season – our first goal is of course to reach the semi-finals,” said Gerlach.
