Mischa Zverev out of the ATP World Tour 250 tournament in Chengdu at an early stage. The German Davis Cup player had to give up against Ruben Bemelmans in the second set.
Mischa Zverev’s appearance at the ATP tournament in Chengdu was a short one: Zverev could not continue his opening match against qualifier Ruben Bemelmans from Belgium at 3:6 and 0:2. This means that there are no more German players in the tableau.
Gael Monfils has already been eliminated as well. The Frenchman, who had won an ATP Challenger tournament in Kaohsiung last week, lost to qualifier Lloyd Harris 6:3, 2:6 and 1:6.
Félix Auger-Aliassime was luckier. He had lost against Bemelmans in the qualification, but moved up as Lucky Loser in the 28er-Roster. And beat in round one the junior winner of the US Open 2017, the Chinese Yibing Wu, in three sets. Another junior was eliminated: Chun Hsin Tseng, this year’s winner in Roland Garros and Wimbledon, lost to Taylor Fritz from the USA in three sets.
The Chengdu field is led by Fabio Fognini ahead of Hyeon Chung and Hamburg Champion Nikoloz Basilashvili.
