ATP: Auger aliassime with first ATP quarterfinal

Canada’s young star Félix Auger-Aliassime has reached his first ATP quarter-finals in Chengdu – as Lucky Loser.

The 18-year-old from Montréal won against two seeded Hyeon Chung with 7:6 (2), 5:7, 6:4 and is thus for the first time in the round of the last eight at an ATP event.

Auger-Aliassime is currently ranked 147 in the world and is regarded as a great hope for the men’s tour. In Chengdu he was already eliminated: In the last qualifying round “FAA” had lost against Ruben Bemelmans.

In the quarter-finals, Auger-Aliassime will face a qualifier: Bernard Tomic, who has regained his ascending form after his retirement from the top 200 and is now back in 123rd place in the world.
