WTA: Tatjana Maria eliminated in Tashkent’s round of sixteen

Tatjana Maria failed to make it to the quarter-finals at the WTA tournament in Tashkent. The German Fed Cup player lost to the Russian Margarita Gasparyan in three sets.

This makes Mona Barthel the last remaining German in the tableau. Barthel will play against Evgeniya Rodina from Russia, who is seeded seventh, later on Wednesday.

Tatjana Maria was seeded fifth at the tournament in Tashkent, and had won round one against Natalia Vikhlyantseva. Tournament favourite Irina-Camelia Begu had already been eliminated in round one.
