WTA: Kvitova already eliminated, Petkovic achieves qualification

Petra Kvitova, one of the favourites at the WTA Premier Mandatory tournament in Beijing, has already been eliminated in the first round.

The fact that the final result was 6:2 and 6:1 for Daria Gavrilova means that the 93-minute playing time is quite long. For Petra Kvitova, however, the realization remains that the last WTA Premier Mandatory event of the year is already history for her. Kvitova was placed fifth in Beijing.

For the “Porsche Race to Singapore” this early defeat doesn’t have to have any serious consequences yet – Kvitova is in a solid fourth place in the annual classification.

Andrea Petkovic, after all, has confirmed her rising form over the last few weeks: The player from Darmstadt won the second qualifying round against the Spaniard Sara Sorribes Tormo with 4:6, 6:1 and 6:4 and is therefore in the main draw.
