ATP: Nishioka qualifies for first ATP title

Japanese Yoshihito Nishioka has won his first title at the 250cc ATP tournament in Shenzhen.

The number 171 of the world rankings defeated Pierre-Hugues Herbert in the final with 7:5, 2:6, 6:4 and celebrated his biggest success so far. Nishioka was considered one of the upcoming youngsters, but almost completely missed the 2017 season due to a cruciate ligament rupture. At that time, he had already reached 58th place, with the injury and comeback trip taking him down to 365th in April this year.

After winning the Challenger Tournament in Gimcheon and now the ATP Tournament in Shenzhen, the 23-year-old will return to the top 100 in the world.
