WTA: Kerber makes short work of Mladenovic

Angelique Kerber won her opening match at the WTA-Premier-Tournament in Beijing without any problems.

At the 8,285,274-dollar event in China, Kerber won the first round 6:2, 6:2 against the French woman and set her balance in a direct comparison to 4:1 – only at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart last year had she lost.

In both rounds Kerber took the lead early and played the match from the front. She allowed three break points, but Mladenovic could not use any. After 1 hour and 11 minutes the victory was fixed.

The third in the world rankings will now face the winner of the match between Yulia Putintseva and Carla Suarez Navarro in the round of the last 32.
