WTA: Beijing: Siegemund fails in round two

Laura Siegemund failed in the second round of the WTA tournament in Beijing. The 30-year-old from Metzingen lost against the Estonian Anett Kontaveit after a hard fight with 6:2, 3:6, 2:6. At the beginning Siegemund had benefited at the score of 6:3, 4:2 from the abandonment of her Russian opponent Daria Kasatkina.

In the Chinese capital, two German players are still competing. The number three seeded Wimbledon winner Angelique Kerber (Kiel) will meet Spanish Carla Suarez Navarro in her second round game on Tuesday.

Wimbledon semi-finalist Julia Görges (Bad Oldesloe) is already in the round of 16. There she meets US Open winner Naomi Osaka (Japan) or Danielle Collins (USA). Andrea Petkovic from Darmstadt was defeated at the beginning by Lesia Tsurenko from Ukraine.
