World runner-up Caroline Wozniacki from Denmark was the last player to make it into the final 16 at the Premier Mandatory tournament in Beijing.
The 28-year-old beat Croatian Petra Martic 7-5, 6-3 at the $8.29 million China Open and set her personal record against the 36th in the world rankings at 5-0 without losing a single set.
In Beijing, Australian Open winner Wozniacki also won two consecutive matches for the first time since June, most recently in Eastbourne. In round one Wozniacki had won against Belinda Bencic from Switzerland, in the round of 16 she now faces Anett Kontaveit.
Besides Wozniacki, Shuai Zhang won 6:1, 6:2 against Timea Babos and Karolina Pliskova 6:3, 6:4 against Aliaksandra Sasnovich.
In the Night Session Sloane Stephens against Dominika Cibulkova and Donna Vekic against Anastasija Sevastova will play the first matches of the round of 16 on Wednesday.
On Thursday the matches of Julia Görges against Naomi Osaka (6.30 a.m. CEST) and afterwards Angelique Kerber against Shuai Zhang are on the programme.
