ATP: Beijing: Oliver Marach and Mate Pavic in double finals

Oliver Marach and Mate Pavic are in the final of the ATP World Tour 500 tournament in Beijing.

The top seeded Australian Open Champions beat Ivan Dodig/Nikola Mektic (Croatia/Nr. 4) in the preliminary round on Saturday with 7:6 (8:6), 6:2 in a good 1:20 hours. In the tiebreak of the first round the Austrian and his Croatian partner had to fend off a set ball – but still got the curve.

Then they took a 3-0 lead at the National Tennis Stadium thanks to a double break and played the match home. With another success, 38-year-old Marach and 13-year younger Pavic, who was recently successful with Dodig at the Chengdu event, could win their fifth joint title of the season.

Opponents on Sunday are the old acquaintances Lukasz Kubot/Marcelo Melo (Poland/Brazil), who are placed second at the China Open.
