Porsche Race to Singapore: Five fixed, five fighting

Two weeks to go, then the WTA Finals in Singapore. We’ll tell you who else is fighting for eligibility!

Now it’s the last two rounds! On October 21st the WTA Finals will start in Singapore – and three places are still available.

Simona Halep, Angelique Kerber, Naomi Osaka, Petra Kvitova and Caroline Wozniacki have already qualified for the year-end event – the latter three players booked their tickets in Beijing last week.

Three places are still available – and five players still have a chance: Sloane Stephens, Elina Svitolina, Karolina Pliskova, Kiki Bertens are close together, Aryna Sabalenka follows with some distance.

Stephens apparently builds on her leading position in the chasing field: She pauses this and next week. Svitolina is currently playing in Hong Kong, Pliskova in Tianjin (and next week in Moscow), Bertens in Linz (and in Moscow), Sabalenka in Tianjin (and Moscow).

Sure is already now: Only Stephens or Svitolina can qualify this week, two places will be awarded next week. A detailed overview of the what-if situation can be found here!

In the double, however, the field of participants has already been determined:

Barbora Krejcikova/Katerina Siniakova, Timea Babos/Kristina Mladenovic, Barbora Strycova/Andrea Sestini Hlavackova, Gabriela Dabrowski/Xu Yifan, Elise Mertens/Demi Schuurs, Nicole Melichar/Kveta Peschke, Andreja Klepac/María José Martínez Sánchez, as well as Ashleigh Barty/CoCo Vandeweghe are all part of the team!

Actually, Elena Vesnina/Ekaterina Makarova are on sixth place – but Vesnina announced her pregnancy last week and will not compete.
