WTA: Field for the B-World Championship in Zhuhai is set

The field for the B-WM in Zhuhai is completed. In addition to defending champion Julia Görges, Garbine Muguruza and Madison Keys will also serve in China.

Last year Görges won the final against CoCo Vandeweghe. The American will no longer serve in Zhuhai in 2018, but attractive challenges await the defending champion.

The biggest competitors for the title will probably be Garbine Muguruza and Madison Keys. The Spaniard, who has already triumphed at the French Open and in Wimbledon, looks back on a somewhat messed up season and wants to ensure a more or less conciliatory end with a tournament victory at the Elite Trophy.

Keys reached the semifinals at both the Grand Slam tournaments in Paris and New York and can therefore look back on a very positive season. She also reached the quarter-finals of the Australian Open, where she lost to the German Angelique Kerber.

Aryna Sabalenka also has high hopes for the title. The Belarusian made an outstanding final spurt and even scratched her way to the A World Championship in Singapore. Now she wants to crown her sensational year in Zhuhai.

In addition, Daria Kasatkina, Anastasija Sevastova, Elise Mertens, Caroline Garcia, Anett Kontaveit, Wang Qiang, and Zhang Shuai will compete in the second Guard World Championship.

“We are delighted to have the fourth edition of the WTA Elite Trophy in Zhuai. Many top athletes of the WTA-Tour will serve at this event”, says the WTA. Tournament director Jose Miguel Garcia is also looking forward to a great event: “We are extremely happy about the field of participants. The tournament will take place from 30 October to 4 November.
