NBA: Bonga shines at G-League debut

Isaac Bonga and Moritz Wagner have made their debut for the South Bay Lakers in the G-League. In the preseason game against Northern Arizona Suns, Bonga was the most convincing player, while Wagner is looking for his throw after his injury.

At the 118:89 victory of the Lakers Bonga scratched a double-double and in only 21 minutes he put up 19 strong points (5/9 FG, 8/10 FT), 9 rebounds, 5 steals as well as 2 blocks and then got an extra praise from coach Coby Karl. “Isaac is so versatile, you can use him on so many positions and he has worked very well under the boards today.”

It didn’t go quite so well for Wagner, who could only put one of his eight throws in the basket and ended up with 5 points and 6 rebounds.

“Of course, Moe can throw well, even if it didn’t work out so well today,” Karl analyzed, but he also showed understanding for the German: “He is nevertheless unique, plays with a lot of dedication, is a real team player. He’ll improve, it was his first game after his injury.”

The regular season begins for South Bay in the night on Sunday, when the Stockton Kings are guests in the City of Angels.
