The Brooklyn Nets have celebrated a clear victory against weak Sixers, while the Spurs have also lost surprisingly. The Suns, on the other hand, celebrate their second win of the season thanks to Devin Booker’s game winners.
Blowout for the Sixers! Head coach Brett Brown’s team seemed exhausted after yesterday’s performance against Detroit, which the young savages from Brooklyn shamelessly exploited. Incredible 28 (!) ball losses allowed Simmons and Co. to throw bricks (4/20) almost exclusively from downtown at the same time. So it was not surprising that Brown rang in Garbage Time in the middle of the last quarter and Philly is still in the fifth attempt this season without a win in another hall.
Nevertheless, the game was still very close at half time (47:51), mainly due to the fact that the Nets didn’t really know how to convert the 17 turnovers of the Sixers in the first half (most since 02/03) into countable ones. That changed after the half time however enormously. Led by the strong D’Angelo Russel (21 points and 6 assists) and Caris LeVert (20 points, 5 rebounds) Brooklyn burned down a real firework in the third quarter and gave 41 points to the overtaxed Sixers.
The New Yorker Bank also made a really strong impression once again. Especially Hollis-Jefferson (21) and Dinwiddie helped the Nets in the third quarter to an 11-0-Run followed by a 7-0-Run, which almost meant the decision.
On Philadelphia’s side, Ben Simmons was the top scorer with 20 points and 12 rebounds, whereas Joel Embiid acted unusually inconspicuous on both sides of the hall (16 points) and again had to struggle with foul problems.
The Wizard can still win! After five successive defeats, the capital will finally return to peace thanks to their victory over the Knicks. But the victory wasn’t carved in stone as sovereign as it is on the scoreboard at the end.
Washington went into the match with a rage and was able to break away in the first quarter with eight points. The league’s worst defensive team to date finally made a good impression around their own zone and held NY at 17 points in the first leg. Also in the further course of the game the defensive of the Wiz (finally) made a halfway passable impression.
As a result of the game, however, mistakes crept into the game of the capital city again and again, so that the Knicks at the beginning of the last quarter again compensate and the fans of the Wizards the fear sweat on the forehead drove. The individual class of Beal (22 points, 8 rebounds, 4 blocks) and Wall (26 points, 7 assists, 5 steals) was enough to make the second Washington victory of the season perfect.
Enes Kenter was not able to change this with his double-double (18 points, 12 rebounds) from the bench, but this was also due to the fact that the trio of New Yorkers did not want to fall the entire game (18.5 percent, 5/27).
Orlando was the worst offensive team of the whole Association at the defensive Spurs, a self-runner for Greg Popovich’s team – not at all! Thanks to strong 50.5 percent litters from the field and 12/32 successful threes, the guest from Florida achieved his third victory of the young season.
The starters of the Magic, their names Gordon (26), Augustin (18), Fournier (16) and Vucevic (13), scored almost sovereign through the bench, just like Rookie Mo Bamba (12), who also collected six boards at the same time. The result was a 26-point lead at the beginning of the last quarter, which the Spurs could not catch up despite a sensational 25-6 run.
At San Antonio DeRozan was once again the most diligent points scorer (25), with an acceptable field casting quota (56 percent). Also the second guard around Mills (16), Belinelli (15) and Gasol (12) gave their best, but could not hide the unusual weaknesses at the defensive end. Austrian Jakob Poeltl also scored two points and five rebounds in 14 minutes.
