NBA: Magic Johnson: “We’re not firing Luke Walton”

Lakers President Magic Johnson continues to back head coach Luke Walton after another defeat to Toronto Raptors and rules out an expulsion, despite recent rumours of inconsistencies in the front office.

It was another shockingly weak performance by the Los Angeles Lakers, who were already 10:41 against the Raptors in the first quarter. Finally it was 107:121 from Purple and Gold’s point of view, which meant the sixth defeat in the tenth game of the season.

In view of the potential of the management, this is quite surprising and not exactly conducive to the mood on the executive floor. After the game against the Raptors, however, President Johnson made at least a verbal promise for longer cooperation: “We won’t fire Luke Walton. He is our trainer and we continue to support him.”

Even the conversation between Johnson and Walton that took place during the week is not said to have been about Walton’s personalities. Instead, it was a tactical meeting. Johnson: “We’re last in defense, this has to get better.”

There will be time for improvement until Wednesday, when the team will face the equally disappointing Minnesota Timberwolves (4-6) at home.
