ATP Finals: Nishikori replaces del Potro

Kei Nishikori (28) will replace the injured US Open finalist Juan Martin del Potro (30) from Argentina at the ATP finals in London (11 to 18 November).

For the 28-year-old Nishikori, it is the fourth participation in the season finale of the eight best professionals of a calendar year after 2014, 2015 and 2016.

Del Potro had broken his right kneecap at the Masters in Shanghai in mid-October and had to end the season early. In addition to Nishikori, the o2 Arena will host the designated world number one Novak Djokovic (Serbia), Grand Slam record winner Roger Federer from Switzerland, Germany’s top player Alexander Zverev, Wimbledon finalist Kevin Anderson (South Africa), former US Open winner Marin Cilic (Croatia) and Austrian Dominic Thiem.

Rafael Nadal (Spain), who has to give up the world rankings to Djokovic on Monday due to his cancellation of the Masters in Paris, has not yet made a decision due to his knee problems.
