ATP: Nadal vs. Djoker: Saudi duel cancelled

The controversial show match in Saudi Arabia between Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic will not take place after all. The reason for this is an injury to the Spaniard.

As expected, the much criticised tennis show match in Saudi Arabia between the world number one Novak Djokovic from Serbia and his predecessor Rafael Nadal has now been officially cancelled. The reason for this is the ankle injury in the Spaniard Nadal, who had a free floating joint body surgically removed. The 17-time Grand Slam champion then declared his season over.

The match for the “King Salman Tennis Cup” was to take place on 22 December in the Saudi Arabian port city of Jeddah. After the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi at the Saudi consulate in Istanbul, the planned participation of the two top stars was highly controversial.
