WTA: US Open winner Naomi Osaka received like a queen in Haiti

Big station for Naomi Osaka: The US Open winner was received enthusiastically in Haiti, the home of her father. The Japanese has also become a star in the Caribbean.

Naomi Osaka is a shy person who reluctantly showed her feelings. “I never actually speak to people and like being with them,” the 21-year-old recently revealed. And yet you can see it on the Japanese woman when she’s touched.

During her long secret visit to Haiti, the birthplace of her father Leonard Francois, Osaka was deeply moved. It was her first flying visit to the Caribbean state since her breakthrough on the big sports stage, since the magical days of New York, when she wrote tennis history.

The protégé of the Munich coach Sascha Bajin was accompanied by his daddy and his Japanese mother Tamaki on his journey in the “Off Season”.

“It is an inspiration for our young tennis players,” said Foreign Minister Edomond Bocchit on Twitter, who gave Osaka a rousing welcome in Port-au-Prince.

Osaka, who grew up just outside New York, had already visited her mother’s home a few days after her surprise coup of Flushing Meadows. The tournament schedule made it possible.

In Asia, too, the world number five, who despite her strong connection to the USA feels like a “hundred percent” Japanese woman, had been acclaimed. Despite the hustle and bustle for her person, Osaka had reached the final at the Tokyo tournament and then the semi-finals in Beijing.
