ATP Finals: Djokovic wins meaningless singles against Cilic

The world number one Novak Djokovic is going with a 3-0 balance from the group matches at the ATP Finals in London. On Friday night he won against Marin Cilic in two sets.

For Novak Djokovic and Marin Cilic it wasn’t really about anything anymore: Djokovic was first, Cilic second – so much was clear after Alexander Zverev’s victory in the afternoon, and nothing would have changed with no result.

Djokovic didn’t care: With 7:6 (7), 6:2 he defeated Marin Cilic in the evening and is the only player to go undefeated into the semi-finals on Saturday. Opponent there: Kevin Anderson.

Djokovic fended off a set ball in the tiebreak at 5:6, shortly after he had won the first round. He managed the decisive break in set two to 3:2.

Djokovic last played against Anderson in Shanghai, where he won in two sets. In the overall balance the “Djoker” leads with 7:1.
