The New England Patriots from the NFL want to play a regular season game in Germany, according to the Bild newspaper.
“I’ve already told NFL boss Roger Goodell that we should play one of the London games in Germany,” Patriots owner Robert Kraft was quoted in the picture: “I want us to be the first team to play in Germany.”
The newspaper brings the Berlin Olympic Stadium into play as a possible venue.
So far it has been decided that four games will take place in London in the 2019 season. Two matches each in Wembley Stadium and New White Hart Lane, the stadium of England’s top football club Tottenham Hotspur, which is still under construction.
The NFL will announce which teams will be deployed. Since 2007, NFL games have been held annually in the English capital, and the corresponding contract runs until 2020.
NFL matches are also played regularly in Mexico, although the poor turf in the Aztec stadium has recently caused trouble.
Due to the adverse conditions, the match scheduled for Monday in Mexico City between the Los Angeles Rams and the Kansas City Chiefs was moved to the Memorial Coliseum in Los Angeles.
