Simona Halep and Novak Djokovic lead the world rankings. But what about the social networks? Can the two best tennis players in the world also score there? Together with Storyclash we also provide the current social media ranking.
Interesting: The Storyclash ranking only measures interactions on the in-house channels (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram) of the tennis stars. Accordingly, actors who post frequently are usually listed with more likes, comments and shared posts.
In October, as in the previous month, a very clear picture emerged among the ladies. Superstar Serena Williams has an almost monopolistic position among tennis players on the social networks. The US American Serena Williams generated a total of 5,934,942 interactions on her channels, which means a minus of 45 percent despite her superior victory.
The post office with the most interactions with the ladies:
Nevertheless, as in the previous ranking, the 23-time Grand Slam winner posted the ten postings with the most interactions. The fact that they were all published on Instagram confirms the trend towards the platform founded in 2010, which has been in place for some time now.
Second place goes to Eugenie Bouchard. The Canadian, who has been chasing her best form on the tennis court for some time, can at least look forward to a significant increase in her social media accounts. With an increase of 139 percent compared to September, “Genie” US Open winner Naomi Osaka replaces Williams as the first chaser.
Maria Sharapova and Elina Svitolina are directly behind them. The Russian Sharapova is regarded as one of the best known sportswomen in the world and, despite her lack of success on the court, can enjoy a total of 1,394,347 interactions. Svitolina’s jump to fifth place is probably mainly due to her victory at the season finale in Singapore.
The German Angelique Kerber, however, had to cope with a small setback in the social media ranking. With only 242,400 interactions (a minus of eight percent), the world ranking second place fell back by three positions to eleventh place.
However, the Wimbledon winner is still ahead of world number one Simona Halep. The Romanian, who was able to celebrate her first Grand Slam victory in Paris in June, is only in twelfth position compared to the previous month, despite an increase of 131 percent.
Nothing has changed at the top in the men’s singles either. Industry leader Novak Djokovic continues to lead the field off the pitch. As in Melbourne, New York and Paris, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal are his fiercest competitors in the virtual world.
The post office with the most interactions with the gentlemen:
Although Federer published the “Top Five” contributions of the month, “Nole” was able to record a total of more than two million more interactions. Serena Williams, however, can’t be reached by the Serb either.
This can also be attributed to a minus of 15 percent. Thus the world number one still has far fewer losses than his permanent rivals. Federer (-33 percent) and Nadal (-62 percent) suffered enormous losses in interactions compared to the previous month.
Quite different from the fourth of the slightly different world rankings, Joao Sousa. The Portuguese ranks behind the podium, ahead of Japan’s superstar Kei Nishikori and Austria’s hope Dominic Thiem. This is mainly attributable to a loyal fan base on Instagram – almost 900,000 people shared, likened or commented on the 29-year-old’s contributions.
Alexander Zverev, on the other hand, has not yet placed in the top ten. It is quite possible that after his outstanding triumph at the ATP finals in London, this will already be reflected differently in the upcoming social media ranking.
