NHL: Draisaitl gives new coach dream debut to Draisaitl

Leon Draisaitl has given his new coach Ken Hitchcock a fantastic debut with the Edmonton Oilers. The German national striker scored the 4-3 winning goal against San Jose Sharks after 51 seconds of extra time.

The brilliant Draisaitl prepared two more goals, including Connor McDavid’s 100th NHL goal for the interim 1-1.

With his brilliant performance Draisaitl made Hitchcock especially happy. “That’s a great victory,” the veteran coach said, “We got better and better the longer the game lasted.”

Hitchcock had taken over the Oilers post from Todd McLellan, who had been dismissed because of the Canadians’ descent.

Hitchcock, who hails from Edmonton, is now the third most successful NHL coach in the list with 824 victories. He won the Stanley Cup with Dallas in 1999.
