According to the Los Angeles Times, former tennis pro and ATP board member Justin Gimelstob are under investigation on suspicion of bodily harm.
In London Justin Gimelstob had still spread the best mood, had appeared as usual self-confident at the presentation of the ATP Cup. Even if the former professional, who also took care of John Isner’s agenda this year, was only intended to play a minor role. Next to Craig Tiley, head of Tennis Australia. And especially beside Chris Kermode, whom Gimelstob, so the rumour mill knows, wants to inherit one not too distant day.
This project could now have come to a standstill: The Los Angeles Times reports that Gimelstob is under investigation for an incident that is said to have occurred at the end of October.
According to the LA Times, Gimelstob in the costume of a character from the movie Top Gun had attacked an acquaintance on the street on Halloween night and hit him several times. Gimelstob has contacted the police in Los Angeles and did not want to make any statements to the newspaper.
In his active career, the current 41-year-old US-American did not win a single tournament on the ATP Tour, but remained successful 13 times in doubles. That reached a career high of position 18 in 2000.
