At 39, Ivo Karlovic is a veteran of the ATP Tour and has not yet finished his tennis career. Now “Dr. Ivo” returned to the top 100 of the world rankings.
At 37, Roger Federer is one of the oldest players on the Tour and third in the world rankings. In many areas the Swiss is the record holder, but in one category “FedEx” has to admit defeat.
The apparently untiring Ivo Karlovic, with his almost 40 years, has once again entered the top 100 of the ATP ranking. On the tour it didn’t really work for the Croatian service giant anymore, so Karlovic moved to Challenger tournaments towards the end of the year. And it went well.
13 victories since the US Open, the 39-year-old has won and finished the year with a tournament victory at the Challenger in Calgary. A great success for Karlovic after having had more and more problems after a great 2016 season in 2017 and 2018. Only 11 victories on the ATP tour were achieved by Karlovic in 2017.
A world ranking position at this age allows Karlovic to move into an illustrious circle. The Croatian is the third oldest player behind Jimmy Connors and Ken Rosewell, who made it back into the Top 100.
