Erste Bank Open 500: Ticket sales for 2019 start tomorrow, Thursday – Kei Nishikori has already confirmed for next year the day after this year’s final!
After the tournament is before the tournament! This set was hit the day after the final of the ATP Tour 500 event in the Vienna Stadthalle. Less than 24 hours after Kei Nishikorigegen had the South African Kevin Andersonin’s final at the traditional tournament, which was as competitive as it was high-calibre, to fall by the wayside in two sets, the Japanese manager contacted Tournament Director Herwig Straka and confirmed that Nishikori would continue to play at Austria’s tennis highlight next year.
“The reason given by the management was that Kei Nishikori was extremely enthusiastic about both the tournament and the city of Vienna with its numerous sights. His visit to the Vienna State Opera together with several other top players left a lasting impression on him, and he was also very impressed by the great atmosphere at the matches in the Stadthalle. I’ve never seen a player give his name one day after the final for next year’s tournament. Of course, we are very pleased that Kei Nishikori will also be taking part in the Erste Bank Open 500 in 2019,” Straka explained.
Thus it is already clear at a very early stage in the tournament preparation that with local hero Dominic Thiem (ATP-8) and Nishikori (ATP-9) two current top ten aces will serve next year in Vienna. “To this end, we are striving to engage more superstars for 2019 in the foreseeable future,” Straka added.
This would also set the course for the continuation of the successful tournaments in 2017 and 2018 with more than 60,000 spectators each. “The fact that we were able to break the sound barrier of 60,000 visitors in two consecutive years is a clear indication that the ATP 500 tournament has finally arrived in Vienna,” Straka stressed. The attractiveness of Austria’s most lucrative sporting event for the public is also demonstrated by the fact that the organiser has already received a large number of ticket reservations and pre-orders for the 45th edition of the Viennese tennis classic from 19 to 27 October 2019.
