Halep celebrates 20th tournament victory in Dubai

Simona Halep is happy about her 20th tournament victory.

Simona Halep celebrates a milestone in her career. She has to fight for her 20th tournament victory against the Kazakh Jelena Rybakina in three sets.

The Romanian tennis player Simona Halep won the WTA tournament in Dubai and thus won her first title since last year’s Wimbledon triumph. The 28-year-old world number two beat Kazakhstan’s Jelena Rybakina 3-6, 6-3, 7-6 (7-5) in the final of the $2,643,670 hard court event and secured her 20th tournament victory.

“This victory feels great,” Halep said, praising her opponent: “She fought to the end. She didn’t lose a single ball. It was mentally very hard, the pressure was quite high. But I really wanted it.”
