Draisaitl can hope for home games

As the NHL season continues, German superstar Leon Draisaitl of the Edmonton Oilers could possibly enjoy a lot of home games.

The continuation of the season in the NHL could become a home game for German star player Leon Draisaitl of the Edmonton Oilers.

As ESPN reported on Wednesday, Edmonton is said to be one of two so-called “hub cities” (central venues) next to Toronto, where the NHL wants to finish the season with extended playoffs.

The training camps will open on July 10th for the 24 NHL teams that are to be involved in the restart of the league. The league plans to restart the 2019/20 season in two hub cities in protected environments, one each for 12 Eastern and 12 Western Conference clubs.

No date for re-start
The Stanley Cup winner will then be determined in extended playoffs. Other candidates for the venues are Las Vegas, Los Angeles and Chicago. The restart date is still not fixed, US media last reported on 30 July.

In the NHL, no more games have been played since March 12 due to the spread of the corona virus. Draisaitl was the first German to receive the Art Ross Trophy for the most successful points collector after the regular season was broken off thanks to his 43 goals and 67 assists.

Draisaitl could also be ahead in the MVP award as the most important player of the season.
