Following an agreement between the North American Ice Hockey League and the players’ union NHLPA, August 1 is targeted as the restart date for the NHL.
The NHL and the players’ union NHLPA have agreed on a provisional extension of the collective bargaining agreement by four years, paving the way for a resumption of playing. The league is considering August 1 as a restart date.
In addition, further agreements have been reached on the procedures for the continuation of the season, but the arrangements still require the approval of committees and players.
Accordingly, the training camps for the 24 teams that are to be involved in the restart of the league will open on 13 July.

The NHL plans to resume the 2019/20 season in two venues. According to media reports, the 12 clubs of the Eastern Conference will meet in Toronto and the 12 clubs of the Western Conference in Edmonton.
The teams will travel to the so-called hub cities on 26 July, where they will be sealed off under the strictest hygiene measures. The Stanley Cup winner will then be determined in play-offs.
