WTA: Wimbledon Champion Marion Bartoli makes a comeback

Marion Bartoli, 2013 Wimbledon winner, has announced her intention to return to the WTA tour next year. After a four-year break, the Frenchman is aiming for the Masters tournament in Miami as her first tournament.

Only six weeks after her final triumph over Sabine Lisicki on the holy lawn, Bartoli announced her resignation in summer 2013. Now she is working on a surprising comeback:”This is going to be a huge challenge,”Bartoli said on Instagram.

Bartoli has won eight tournaments on the WTA Tour and achieved her career high in 2012 with seventh place in the world rankings. In 2007 she had already made it to the final in Wimbledon, but at that time Venus Williams lost in two sets.

In 2016, Bartoli suffered from a mysterious virus that caused her to lose enormous weight. In November of the same year, after her recovery, she ran the New York Marathon as a sign of her new start.
