Golf: Woods after almost 1,000 days with interim lead at PGA Tour tournament

Tiger Woods was again the leader on Friday after a long, long wait at a PGA tour event – albeit only for a short time. At the Valspar Championship in Florida, the superstar secured second place on the leaderboard in round two.

After an opening lap of 70s Woods played a 68th in Palm Harbor in the second round – three under par – and jumped to the top of the standings. Most recently, the 42-year-old led a 2015 PGA tournament at the Wyndham Championship – 930 days ago.

“I just need a little bit more tournament time,”said Woods,”I get a better feeling that I’m getting behind the rhythm of the rounds,”said Woods, who was only able to play one event of the PGA tour last year due to a back surgery:”I can play more by feel. I just figured out how to play golf again.”

At the end of the second round of the Valspar Championship, Woods is in shared second place, three strokes behind Canadian Corey Conners.
