Alexander Zverev is the current number three in the world and one of the top stars of the ATP tour. With the quarter-final entry in Munich Zverev put his name on a prominent list.
The three-set victory over Yannick Hanfmann in Munich brought Alexander Zverev his 135th victory on the ATP tour. For comparison: 36-year-old Italian Paolo Lorenzi recently celebrated his 100th victory at ATP level after 16 years of playing time.
That Zverev has 35 victories at the age of 21 years and one month more is quite impressive. With these statistics, the man from Hamburg is following the tracks of Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic. Zverev ranks fourth in the Grand Slam Champions’ ranking, who have already won 135 times in their early years. Of course, “Sascha” has not yet won a major victory, but this statistic is certainly a good sign.
Nadal leads the table at 19 years and nine months, followed by Federer at 20 years and nine months. Djokovic ranks third at 20 years and 10 months and is thus on a par with the “FedExpress”. With fourth place, Zverev puts big names like Juan Martín del Potro, Stan Wawrinka or Andy Murray behind him.
This is mainly because Zverev works very successfully with his father, Alexander Senior.
He now received the “Coach Of The Year” award from the German Tennis Federation at the BMW Open. Son “Sascha” praised his father in the highest notes: “My father’s success is so impressive because he has developed two completely different brothers as players and both have made it into the top 30. That’s why he’s one of the best in the world to me. I congratulate him on behalf of my brother and of course from my heart.”
